V Squat

MachineStrength

No video available

The V Squat is a machine squat variation performed on a V-squat / angled sled machine where the shoulders sit under pads and the feet press on a platform along a fixed path. It builds quad-dominant leg strength with less balance demand than free-weight squats. Ideal for hypertrophy and lifters who prefer machine loading; requires a V-squat machine.

How to Perform V Squat

  1. 1Adjust the shoulder pads and foot platform to your height. Place feet on the platform about shoulder-width, toes slightly out.
  2. 2Position shoulders under the pads, grip the handles, and unlock the safety stops.
  3. 3Brace the core with chest up and a neutral spine.
  4. 4Inhale as you bend the knees and hips to lower under control until thighs reach roughly parallel (or your comfortable depth).
  5. 5Exhale as you drive through the mid-foot/heels to extend the knees and hips back to nearly lockout—avoid slamming the stops.
  6. 6Re-engage safeties before exiting.
  7. 7Key form tips: Keep knees tracking over toes; do not bounce out of the hole; control depth. Common mistakes: feet too high/low on the platform, rounding the lower back, or cutting range short.
