Understanding Your AI-Generated Workouts

This guide explains how to read and understand your AI-generated workouts in Styrki.

What do VOL, MED, and INT mean?

These abbreviations refer to the three day types in the Norwegian Method periodization system:

  • VOL (Volume): Higher rep work (8-12 reps) at moderate weights.

  • MED (Medium): Moderate reps (5-8) at heavier weights.

  • INT (Intensity): Low reps (1-5) at near-maximal weights.

Why does my workout change based on recent sessions?

The AI tracks your training history and adjusts recommendations based on:

  • Muscle fatigue: If you trained 🏋️ Barbell Deadlift heavily yesterday, today's workout might reduce lower back stress.

  • Weekly volume: The AI ensures you hit optimal volume targets.

  • Day type rotation: VOL, MED, and INT days rotate to provide variety.

How is intensity calculated?

Intensity is expressed as a percentage of your estimated 1RM or as RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion).

How can I improve recommendations?

Log your workouts consistently, including RPE ratings. Update your equipment preferences in settings.
