Cable Reverse Crunch

CableStrength

No video available

The Cable Reverse Crunch is a loaded core exercise performed on a low cable, curling the pelvis and knees toward the chest against constant cable resistance. It targets the rectus abdominis with progressive overload beyond bodyweight reverse crunches. Ideal for trainees building thicker abs; requires a cable machine and ankle strap or similar attachment.

How to Perform Cable Reverse Crunch

  1. 1Attach an ankle strap (or appropriate low attachment) to a low cable pulley and select a light-to-moderate weight.
  2. 2Lie on your back facing away from the stack, strap secured around both ankles (or feet in a suitable attachment), knees bent.
  3. 3Scoot far enough that there is tension at the start with hips down and knees bent ~90°.
  4. 4Brace the core, then exhale as you curl the pelvis off the floor and pull the knees toward the chest against the cable.
  5. 5Pause with abs contracted, then inhale as you lower under control without losing tension.
  6. 6Repeat for the desired reps.
  7. 7Key form tips: Curl the pelvis—do not just flex the hips; keep the lower back controlled; start light. Common mistakes: using momentum, yanking with hip flexors only, or setting up with no cable tension at the bottom.
